Tai Chi Beginner Workshop Detalis:
Jan will cover the following topics:
- Bio-mechanical stance alignment for optimal blood and thus energy flow
- Feeling the nerves and hence having awareness of blockages and tension, and so releasing them
- Holding the arms from the back, a major shift for shoulder tension
- Dropping the tailbone and sacrum, essential to release tightness in the sacral region
- Learning to open and drop into the hips, freeing the lower back from excessive lumbar curvature
- Releasing the deep abdominal organs. The organs keep you alive, yet are mostly ignored.
- Stretching the fascia and connective tissue which hold you up
- Learning how to step and shift weight correctly
- Creating spirals in the tissue for real power
- Balance and coordination at all times
- Dropping the mind into the body
- Maintaining awareness and presence
We will cover about a third of the Wu Style Short Form. Jan will explain why this is good for westerners. He will also demonstrate the Middle Frame Yang Style. He has learned the Original Old Yang Middle Frame from one of the oldest sources in China, Tian Yin Jia of Shanghai whose father Tian Zhao Lin lived with the original Yang family.
